Discover the distinct flavors of the islands of Scotland with a swill of Lagavulin 16 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Our 86 proof whisky has the intense, full-bodied flavor reminiscent of a driftwood fire at dusk. The taste of dry peat smoke with strong maritime notes results in a complex dram that is complemented by a long, elegant finish. Distilled in Lagavulin, Scotland on the coast of Islay, centuries of local distilling excellence has earned our whisky the Double Gold Medal at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Our aging process in oak casks gives our whisky the extraordinary and classic smoky flavor that demands to be served in a traditional whisky glass, neat or with a little water. Carrying on a 200-year-old tradition of distilling excellence, the Lagavulin distillery is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay. Founded in 1816 by farmer John Johnston and later led by Peter Mackies in 1887, the name Lagavulin was to become the last word on the delicacy of Islay malts. Miles and miles of peat bog in the west of the island provide the raw material which imbues the barley with our iconic smoky flavor, and the rich peaty water that runs from the Solan Lochs into the distillery makes the flavors so unique. It takes time, but patience is our finest virtue and rushing good whisky is just not how we take care of things in Islay.

Our distillery team let their imaginations run wild with experimentation and creativity in making Elements. We’re excited to take you along on our journey to explore the different elements that make our whisky unique as we take our signature profile into new territories. The first release is Elements 1.0, a unique single malt that went through a 55-hour fermentation process overseen by Distillery Manager Barry MacAffer.   There are a few factors that set Elements 1.0 apart from the crowd and make it different to other unique releases. Typically, we use two 5.5 tonne mash tuns at Laphroaig to give us 11 tonnes of wort to go into the washback. For this expression, the team looked back to the pre-1990s when it was common practice to use a singular 8.5 tonne mash tun, and used it in addition to the two 5.5s for a whisky that's the result of old meeting new. The wort we pull from the tuns through to the washbacks is usually semi-cloudy, which is what gives Laphroaig its combination of fruity and smoky flavours. For Elements 1.0, we’ve also pulled through cloudy wort, which gives us bigger and heavier flavours, emphasising the phenolic notes. Cloudy wort can be quite bold and a little overpowering, but this 50/50 mix of cloudy and semi-cloudy has balanced out perfectly.
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon is crafted from a batch of wheated Kentucky straight bourbon aged for 6-8 years. The inaugural batch, A120, made its debut in January 2020, adhering to the nomenclature used in the tradition of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. The naming convention designates the letter "A" for the first batch of the year, followed by the month of release, and concluding with the last two digits of the release year. Three batches are allocated annually in January, May, and September, each displaying a unique batch number and proof. Notably, all releases are bottled without chill-filtration. NOSE: The aroma is robust and sweet, featuring notes of maple, pancake syrup, brown butter, toffee, and cherry cola. Exhibiting a powerful and enjoyable character, it is enriched with wheater complexity and delightful sweet oak nuances. TASTE: The palate offers a thick mouthfeel with a subtle heat sensation. While this release carries a touch more ethanol compared to the initial two of 2023, it remains far from overwhelming. Flavors of maple, cinnamon, pepper, clove, and a hint of nutmeg intertwine with decadent notes of pancake syrup, crème brûlée, and caramelized sugar. FINISH: The finish is extended, characterized by a light oak presence but abundant dessert-like qualities.
Larceny is a small batch bourbon (100 barrels or less) of barrels from the middle three floors of the aging warehouse. The barrels that go into each batch are aged anywhere from 6 to 10 years. It is bottled at 92 proof.
