Mature in age and truly exceptional in quality, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon has earned its place as an enduring favorite of the most discerning whiskey connoisseurs. The “Best American Whiskey” according to Food & Wine magazine, our 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon represents the culmination of over a decade of patient aging in specially chosen, new charred American white oak barrels.
Aged for ten years, this single barrel rye whiskey is incredibly rare. Dark caramel color, along with an aroma of vanilla, mocha and melted butter. Notes of thick caramel, herbs, botanicals, thyme and black pepper. Finishes with a touch of cloves. Proof: 92.8 (46.4% ABV) Size: 750ml
Renowned for rye, America’s first whiskey, since our founding in 1753, we take production of every barrel of Michter’s Rye very seriously. Michter's US-1 Rye is made from select American rye grain that is sheared to enable the saturation of more flavor during fermentation. It is then aged in a heated warehouse. This premium rye has hints of light spice, black pepper, marmalade and plum, spicy grain and light caramel.
The enthusiasm from Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco about the 2024 release of their US*1 Barrel Strength Rye underscores its special quality. Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson have deemed it ready for release. This single barrel whiskey stands out with an average proof of 110.2 (55.1% ABV). Despite the higher cost of barreling at a lower entry proof of 103 compared to the standard 125, McKee highlights that this method yields a whiskey that is richer and more complex. The 2024 release of Michter's US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is celebrated for its rich and complex flavor profile. The whiskey's entry at a lower proof contributes to its depth, offering a palette of butterscotch and cinnamon with a hint of cherries on the nose, complemented by a warm, toasty vanilla and caramel taste. The finish is marked by a dry oaky spice, showcasing the whiskey's intricate character and the meticulous craftsmanship behind its creation.
First introduced to great acclaim in the Fall of 2014, Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon is a groundbreaking whiskey expression. It is made by taking Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon and then aging it for an additional period in a second custom made barrel. This second barrel is assembled from 18-month air-dried wood and then toasted but not charred. The truly unique and delicious taste of Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon represents a remarkable achievement given that it is Kentucky Straight Bourbon with nothing extra added or done except placement in a second toasted barrel.
The Toasted Barrel Sour Mash is Michter's most involved expression in the core range: it begins with the most critically decorated everyday American whiskey produced — the Sour Mash that Whisky Exchange named Whisky of the Year — and applies a carefully calibrated second barrel finishing step that adds another dimension without overshadowing the character that earned the original its recognition. The selection of the second barrel's toast level was not arbitrary: Michter's evaluated several different levels before McKee and Wilson selected the one that best complemented the US*1 Sour Mash's specific aromatic and flavor character. The 18-month air-drying of the second barrel's wood ensures concentrated, high-quality stave flavor contribution. The result is the US*1 Sour Mash's award-winning character elevated by a layer of toasted wood sweetness, caramelized vanilla, and additional complexity that the single-barrel version alone cannot deliver. Tasting Notes Nose: The US*1 Sour Mash's balanced caramel, vanilla, and grain sweetness deepened by the toasted barrel finish. More aromatic complexity than the base expression. Palate: The award-winning Sour Mash's smoothness enhanced by the toasted barrel's additional caramelized sweetness and vanilla depth. Richer and more complex than the standard US*1 Sour Mash while preserving what earned it its global recognition. Finish: Longer and more nuanced — the toasted barrel's contribution adding persistence and evolution to a finish already noted for its quality.
Michter’s US-1 Bourbon is made from a carefully selected mashbill that features the highest quality American corn. It is then matured to the peak of perfection, with barrels often aging in excess of eight years. Truly “small batch,” each batch of our US*1 Bourbon is typically composed of no more than two dozen barrels, leaving no margin for “blending out” imperfection and thus necessitating excellence from every barrel. Reflecting the spirit of the Bluegrass State, Michter’s US*1 Bourbon is nuanced, mellow, and earthy.

Our first two batches yielded. 12,000-15,000 bottles and were available in 8 other markets other than Tennessee. 95% rye / 5% malted barley 4 & 8 year ryes (at least 25% 8 Year added) 100 Proof
This is a blend of multiple types of malt and grain that Nikka reserves. Nikka From the Barrel was created to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky "from barrels" which only blenders can sniff and taste. As the whisky contains so many characteristic components at a higher alcohol of 51.4%, it is essential to let the liquid "marriage" in used casks for 3-6 months for it to stabilize and harmonize. The concept of the unique short squared bottle is "a small lump of whisky", which perfectly visualizes the rich and strong taste of the whisky inside.

In 1870 George Garvin Brown created Old Forester on Louisville, KY’s famous whiskey row. In honor of that milestone year in bourbon history, we have crafted a tribute – Old Forester 1870 Original Batch – the first craft expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series. Old Forester 1870 Original Batch echoes George Garvin Brown’s original 1870 batching process. Back then, Brown batched barrels obtained from three distilleries to create a consistent flavor profile. To emulate that process today, we also select barrels from three warehouses, each barrel originating from a different day of production, with a different entry proof and a different age profile. The three expressions of Old Forester are then batched together to craft Old Forester 1870 Original Batch. This 90-proof bourbon will be minimally filtered, to honor the processes available to George Garvin Brown at that time.
